The Patchwork Pieces

An introduction to the inhabitants of a body.

About us

Hello! We're the Patchwork Pieces, a system of about 141 members!

Our frequent fronters

A list of our most frequent fronters. Although we like to be acknowledged, in general, we tend to go by 'S' or Patch for convenience's sake and prefer they/them pronouns if unspecified.

Us, in Detail

We consider ourselves as a polymedian system and have a total of 141 members. Our origins are somewhat unknown to us, as many of the memories to the lead-up to the creation of the first member and many more since were lost due to the disappearance of the original as well as the splitting of the first member. Speculating using the information we do have, we think we may be a mixed origin system (partly endogenic and partly traumagenic in nature).Switching is mostly voluntary, with some minor exceptions (some front triggers bring members to the front) but those are not frequent occurrences. Fronting tends to tire us out over longer periods so we try to cycle through a set of primary fronters fairly regularly. A partial list of these is on the list of frequent fronters. As this implies, we do not have a specific host. Our headspace is less of an actual space and more of a communications system in 3D and can be considered an overlay. Conceptually, it is an infinite range of empty skyscrapers except on the west side where there an infinite stretch of beach. The headspace is also in perpetual moonlight thanks to our Moon goddess, Luna. The size makes communication somewhat difficult, as members are fairly spread out over the range of inhabited buildings with some members not having contact with the main group of members (who are concentrated within two blocks) for years due to cellphones working very rarely; thus we primarily rely on teleporters for communication.Notably, our memory system is quite messy. Memories are accessible to only the fronter and those near the front for a short period (approximately anywhere between a day and a week) after which it is partially accessible to everyone, although it is still much easier for the fronter of that time to remember them.
